Our Modern Slavery Statement (2024)

Introduction
Slavery and human trafficking are abhorrent practices which have no place in the modern world. Lowdhams takes its responsibility in this regard very seriously, as an employer and as part of a supply chain. Lowdhams is committed to acting ethically and to have effective systems in place to ensure modern slavery is not taking place in in any part of the business or in its supply chain.

Organisation’s structure
Lowdhams (being Lowdham Leisureworld Limited and Lowdham Outdoor Leisure Limited) is a retailer of caravans, motorhomes and campervans, a provider of aftersales servicing, a supplier of parts and accessories. It imports product from Europe and the USA and retails from its site near Nottingham, mainly to customers in the UK.

Policies and procedures
Lowdhams has the following policies and procedures in place to mitigate the risk of someone being exploited within the business:

  • A robust recruitment policy, including eligibility to work in the UK checks and proof of age for all potential employees;
  • A Whistleblowing Policy to allow any concerns to be raised.

Lowdhams has also carried out a risk review of its supply chain to identify potentially higher risk organisations taking account of the industry type, the nature of the workforce, and the supplier location. From this, assurance is has been sought either from a review of the Modern Slavery statements of those organisations where applicable, or through direct contact.

Training and awareness
Employees are made aware of Modern Slavery legislation in the Company Handbook and for those involved in procurement additional support and training is provided.

Monitoring and effectiveness
The HR team and Managing Director will monitor any reports received, whether from employees or third parties. Any incidents will be considered by the full Board of Directors.

This statement was approved by the Board of Directors on 7 May 2024.
